The authors

behind the tales

Sofie and Ali are the sister-author duo behind The Tales of Charlie Wags, a rhyming picture book series that brings the world to children—one wag at a time.

The series is based off Sofie's real-life dog, Charlie Wags, whose wagging tail moves so fast, you'd almost expect him to fly away.

The story

behind the story

The idea first came to Sofie years ago when she was in high school: a globe-trotting pup whose tail could take him anywhere.

But it wasn’t until she and Ali became mothers that the idea truly came to life. Storytime became a favorite part of their days, and they longed for books that were both educational and enchanting—stories that opened windows to the world.

As daughters of immigrants, Sofie and Ali were raised in a multicultural household with Argentine and Greek roots. They learned the value of cultural diversity at a young age. Their upbringing was filled with languages, stories, and traditions from the places that shaped their family.

Even with limited means, their parents made it a priority to show them the world. This instilled in the fundamental belief that travel is one of the greatest forms of education.

Knowing that many children don’t have the chance to hop on a plane and see the world firsthand, Sofie and Ali set out to create a series that brings global adventures to the reader—wherever they are.

Shortly after launching the series, they realized Charlie's stories may bring a bit of joy and adventure to children who can't currently travel.

That's why, for every book purchased, Sofie and Ali donate a matching copy to children in hospitals and under-resourced schools. As of May 2025, they've donated 1,500 books through theirBuy a Book, Share an Adventureinitiative.

Through storytelling and shared kindness, each book becomes a ticket to something bigger.
